Training
A narrow specialisation, on purpose
Dr. Coutinho graduated in dentistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and holds a specialist qualification in Implantology from the Piracicaba Dental School of the University of Campinas (FOP-UNICAMP), one of the reference institutions for the field in Brazil.
Within implantology he narrowed his practice further, to the zygomatic protocol — the route used when the upper jaw has lost too much bone for conventional implants. It is a deliberately small field. The published literature is explicit that outcomes depend on operator experience, which is an argument for doing fewer procedures more often rather than offering everything.

How to check a Brazilian dentist
You should not take a credential on trust from the website that claims it. In Brazil the check is public and takes a minute.
- Every dentist legally practising in Brazil holds a registration number with a state Council of Dentistry (Conselho Regional de Odontologia). The format is CRO, the state abbreviation, and a number — here, CRO-RN 2966.
- The Federal Council of Dentistry (Conselho Federal de Odontologia) publishes a searchable register of registered professionals and their specialist qualifications at cfo.org.br.
- A specialist qualification is registered separately from the licence to practise. A dentist may be legally registered without holding the specialisation relevant to your treatment — check both.
- Ask any clinic abroad, including this one, for the treating surgeon's registration number before you book travel. A refusal to give it is an answer in itself.

The assessment is done by the surgeon
The clinical assessment is carried out personally by Dr. Coutinho, not delegated to a coordinator or a sales consultant. The person who examines you is the person who would operate.
Cases are declined
Not every patient who asks about zygomatic implants needs them, and some should not have them. Being told the procedure is not indicated for you is a normal outcome of an assessment.
No figures before assessment
Brazilian dental regulation prohibits advertising on price, and a responsible plan cannot be costed before the case is understood. Figures are given individually and in writing.
No before-and-after imagery
CFO Resolution 196/2019 prohibits publishing before-and-after images and promises of results. That is why you will not find any on this site — their absence is compliance, not a lack of cases.
